Community leaders agree that the impact that The Potter’s House has had on the city has extended past the church’s walls. Throughout the coronavirus pandemic and last summer’s racial justice movement, the 30,000-member megachurch has found ways to serve its southern Dallas community and beyond. It partnered with the city to give out food and milk to those struggling to make ends meet.

Over the years, he has met with leaders on the world stage, including President Rawlings of Ghana and President Obasanjo of Nigeria. He was a guest of the King of Jordan, King Abdullah, the President of Trinidad, George Maxwell Richards, and the president of the Republic of Uganda, Yoweri K. Museveni, among others. Jakes sees his ministry as being a part of the city’s way to address this trauma.
